Probably feeling left out after Mayor Newsom's friendly wager with Mayor Cluck, California Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado and his counterpart in Texas David Dewhurst made their own bet on game one of the World Series.

The bet, which was pretty tame if you ask us, involved the loser treating the winner and his staff to a dinner of local cuisine. Lt. Gov Maldonado wagered an all-out California-style feast of Santa Maria-style barbecue, California wine, and sandwiches from Ike's Place if the Giants lost game one. It's probably good the Giants won last night then, because we hate to imagine how long it would have taken to wait in line for all those sandwiches. Meanwhile, thanks to Cliff Lee's performance, Dewhurst will have to find a way to ship a "a Texas-size portion of legendary beef brisket." out to Maldonado and his staff.
