The general manager of Cafe Cocomo, the Potrero Hill nightclub that was the scene of a shooting earlier this month as well as a fatal shootout in 2005, is defending his Salsa venue by making a decision to stick to the genre that happens to work for them (That'd be Salsa). According to BCN, on the Appeal, GM Rhush Wanigatunga sees some problems with music promoters of "the hip-hop genre," although he points out that his main concern is with "trying to reduce the probability of someone having a weapon coming to an event here," and is not simply targeting hip-hop in particular.

Meanwhile, the SF Entertainment Commission has proposed legislation to require promoters to register with the city in order to track and take action against potential problem promoters and the venues that rent space to them.
