KALX presents a very unique show featuring Robyn Hitchcock playing covers of some classic songs that were produced by the legendary Joe Boyd.
Boyd, who produced Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, The Incredible String Band, Fairport Convention, and many others, will read from his book White Bicycles about the musicians he discovered, nurtured and produced in the late 1960s, and Hitchcock will play songs by the artists that Boyd mentions.
The book, which chronicles rock music from the '50s through the late '60s, has been lauded by many critics as the best book to date about 1960s popular culture. The New York Times Book Review says, "Boyd's wit and candor are rare enough, but what truly makes his writing stand out are his insights into an era when rock 'n' roll still seemed exciting and strange."
