ART: Artists Kyle Ranson and Daniel Higgs present Morph Traits, an exhibition of 44 drawings that are the result of a collaborative exercise between the two that started in 1991. The Morph Traits Book, which features the same collection, will also be released tonight.

7 to 10 p.m. // Needles & Pens (3253 16th St) // free

FILM: As part of Rebecca Solnit's Infinite City show at SFMOMA, which combines traditional map-making with live art events, the film series, Infinite City: Cinema City, will explore the history of cinema in San Francisco. Tonight's theme is Housing Shadows and Projecting Fog, featuring two works in progress -- Fog City, which "lovingly captures our atmospheric conditions" and Strand: A Natural History of Cinema, which highlights the city's great postwar movie houses.

7 p.m. // SFMOMA (151 Third St) // $9 (free with museum admission)

SCIENCE: The Academy of Sciences goes retro with Swingin' NightLife, featuring swing dancing in the Piazza on a brought-in dance floor all night long. (As far as retro, are we talking pre-50s, '50s, '70s, or '90s?) The event will include performances by The San Francisco Jitterbugs dance club and dance lessons from the Lindy in the Park folks. (Get there early for a planetarium pass, or, pro-tip: wait until later for slots to open up from passholders who have left before their showing time.)

6 to 10 p.m. // Academy of Sciences (55 Music Concourse Dr, Golden Gate Park) // $10-12
