1960s icon director/actor Dennis Hopper succumbed to a long battle with prostate cancer on Saturday. He was 74.
Starting out in films like Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and Giant, Hopper came into his own with the Baby Bommer classic Easy Rider. Hopper went on to star in River's Edge, Hoosiers, and most notably, Blue Velvet. The unique actor generally played unique characters -- or, as CNN notes, Hopper was "an actor with a penchant for alcohol, drugs and outlandish behavior, and later a go-to performer to play villains and commanding misfits."
Here are a few memorable lines from Hopper's most well-known roles.
"Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!" (Blue Velvet)
"Hey, man, you don't talk to the Colonel. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet warrior in the classic sense." (Apocalypse Now)
"Don't you fucking look at me!" (Blue Velvet)
[Stoned out of his mind] "No, man, like hey, man. Wow. I was watching this object man, li-like the satellite that we saw the other night, right? And, like, it was going right across the sky, man, and then... I mean it just suddenly, uh, it just changed direction and went whizzin right off, man. It flashed..." (Easy Rider)
"I ate so much pussy in those days, my beard looked like a glazed donut." (River's Edge)
"Fuck you, you fucking fuck!" (Blue Velvet)
