"The end of an era has arrived," notes Eater. Bacar, the SOMA restaurant staple with the fancy brink front, will close shop come May 7, a few months shy of its 10-year anniversary. Although the joint will be acquired by Alexander's Steakhouse of Cupertino, there is slight hope that its Executive Chef and staff will remain once it re-opens under new management and re-branding mid-summer. Eater goes on to say, "Although Bacar came on to the San Francisco restaurant scene with much fanfare, it suffered years of neglect and if profits were made, they never made it back to the 40 or so investors who originally started the restaurant." (See: Bernie Madoff.) Bacar helped fill the bellies/livers of many a Vox and Six Apart employee. (See you at Orson, folks.) [Eater]
