We figure most of you have tried a sandwich at one of SF's latest sandwich meccas, Ike's Place (but OMG if you haven't you need to try, like at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday). Today the NYT discovers the popular shop via the negative reactions coming from neighbors, who are now decrying the loss of peace on their formerly quiet block in the Castro. Also, they point out that while some businesses may hate the impact of Yelp, it was that four-letter site who was responsible for Ike's massive popularity, and for that owner Ike Shehadeh is grateful.
Also, the NYT is a little behind the times in discovering the popularity of Bi-Rite Creamery, which should reopen next week after a brief remodel. We know, it's been hard living without it. Buck up.
