CBS 5 injects a bit of animal cruelty humor into the morning -- which, of course, we enjoyed. "Owl-Fried Power Line Falls In Pittsburg" screams their headline. (For those of you who don't know, an owl caused a power line to sizzle then fall, resulting in a shelter-in-place for most of Monday morning. The shelter-in-place as since been lifted.)

Not to be outdone, KTVU has an image of the "fried" owl. It seems the winged creature was "using some kind of metal debris to build a nest on a major high-power transmission tower," which shorted out a 60,000-volt transmission line, "throwing a Pittsburg neighborhood into darkness, an utility official said."

SFist would like to dedicate today to the fallen Pittsburg owl.
