The recent hate crime legislation coincides with the 11th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death after he was robbed and beaten outside of Laramie, Wyoming, in 1998.

On Monday, staged readings of The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, the ground-breaking epilogue to the original play, will take place simultaneously at 120 theaters nationwide, as well as in Australia, Great Britain, Hong Kong, and Spain.

The new edition features members of New York’s Tectonic Theater Project's return to Laramie, Wyoming, in which they explore how the town had changed in the ten years since Matthew Shepard’s murder. What they found defied their expectations. New interviews with Shepard's mother, Judy, and with convicted killer Aaron McKinney are also included.

Below are the four Bay Area theaters participating in the reading on Monday evening. Each performance benefits the Matthew Shepard Foundation and is followed by a discussion.
