Can't decide which Muni shirt to wear to show off your, ahem, hyper-local pride? Fret not! LA-based MikeJames Clothing offers an even better chance to boast about your favorite city with their Area Code t-shirts. See, each shirt features an area code and a graphic outline of the state of your choice. (Be the envy of all of Jenner with your very own 707 shirt!) In addition to several California area codes, the MJ has made shirts for Las Vegas, Austin, Seattle, New Orleans, Atlanta, Madison, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York.
Your SFist editor has been sporting his black and orange "415" shirt around AT&T Park for the past few days, and it has received nothing less than glowing reviews from passersby. And, having been born in the 714 (now 949), then living in the 831, 408 and 415 areas, we plan on getting all codes (for a mere $20-$24 each!)
MikeJames Clothing -- co-owned by childhood friends Mike Kirschenbaum and James Starr, who went to UC Santa Cruz and UC Santa Barbara, respectively -- will also make custom colors in addition to customs codes. You can order your own shirt here.
Special thanks goes out to Julie Wolfson at LAist.
