Last night. before a vigil for Current TV journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who are currently serving a 12-year jail sentence in North Korea for illegally crossing the border, the inmates' husbands spoke out about their conditions. The news was disheartening.
Iain Clayton, the husband of Laura Ling, says that "Ling's medical condition has deteriorated" while Lee has developed a serious ulcer. Lee's husband, Michael Saldate, said that she "sounded scared." Their condition, however, was also described as "bearable."
In related news, South Korean media reported "that the youngest son of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-un, is overseeing the case of the two detained journalists." Jong-un will, most likely, take control of Funtown as soon as his father, who recently suffered a stroke, dies.
