To quote our new President, "What is required of us now is a new era or responsibility." We here at SFist are fully committed to helping you usher in this new era by finding you some of the best ways to eat for free or on the cheap.
So, we are super excited to announce that EPIC Roasthouse, the splashy waterfront restaurant on the Embarcadero, is offering a newly dubbed. "3B" lunch. In the restaurant's upstairs lounge, Quiver Bar, twenty bucks gets you a ½ pound burger, a Budweiser, and a house-made brownie. Hello!? Deliciousness. Yes, $20 for lunch is still expensive. We get that. But the upside is the dinner entrees alone over at EPIC Roasthouse hover around the $30 mark, and its lunch menu isn't much cheaper. An even more compelling argument, the burger mentioned above is typically $20 sans beer and brownie. And, recognizing that Budweiser has abdicated its thrown in an unwritten way, Anchor Steam or Trumer Pils draft beer or Thomas Kemper Root Beer may be substituted.
So we see this as a great way for everyone to dine like a high roller with the change you could conceivably collect in your pocket over the next couple of weeks. Don't forget, you also get to take in a stunning view of the San Francisco Bay. The special is good Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Quiver Bar
As for the unemployed, of whom we know there are far too many, this is an indulgence you can certainly take on at least once. In fact, right now, consider this an open invitation to all the unemployed folks to get out there and reconnect with the Embarcadero, fine food, and each other. What date shall we set? Everyone's free right?
Seriously though, Let's say, everyone show up next Monday, January 26 at 1 p.m. We'll be there. We might even carry a sign.
Annoyed by the first suggestion? Stop rolling your eyes and read the fine print on this one then.
On Saturday, January 31, between 2 and 4 p.m., gorge out on free cheese at an A.G. Ferrari location nearest you. You read that correctly. The staff is hyping its killer cheese collection and you get to savor this new marketing campaign absolutely free. Make a day of it and see how many of the franchise's cheese counters you can hit and report back with the results.
Still unimpressed? Fine. How about a buffalo wings for 44 cents? That's right, Extreme Pizza is ponying up 44 cent for each savory, spicy chicken wings in honor of the 44th presidential inauguration. The deal lasts until Feb. 28. God bless America.
