In a city littered with film festivals, few of them stand out. This is one of them.

Starting this Thursday (11/6), the San Francisco International Animation Festival will sample a wide array of animation with a selection of the finest, boldest and most exciting animated films and videos from around the world, including frame-by-frame and computer-assisted animation.

The festival opens with Leslie Iwerks' examination of Pixar, perhaps the best-known and most successful animation house in the world, which just happens to be based here in the Bay Area. The director as well as several Pixar animators will be in attendance. The full program -- from the lovable children's movie Komaneko: the Curious Cat, to a collection of the best shorts from the best animation festival in Europe, Best of Annecy 2007 and an exciting animated music video program, Play it by Eye -- is now available at www.sffs.org.

(Stayed tuned tomorrow, kids. We'll have a ticket giveaway for "Top Drawers" happening on Friday night. This special night showcases playful, sex-driven shorts, featuring highlights from Signe Baumane's Teat Beat of Sex & Kelly Sears' Drift. This night is for adults-only. If you know what we mean. And we think you do. So leave the little blessings at home, and bring someone you love or want to love until the next morning.)
