Sure, your bulky old monitor still works fine. But it's obsolete anyway. Here's how we can tell: perfectly good CRT monitors abandoned on sidewalks and streets of San Francisco are now getting tagged with graffito long before they're getting picked up for re-use by the thrifty. So, we don't know how cool it is anymore for people to tape a "Yes, it works!!" sign onto some garbage containing nasty stuff like lead and mercury and then washing their hands of the situation. Yes, we know "it works!", but nobody wants it anyway. So, put it anywhere but the sidewalk. Are we bugging you? We don't mean to bug ya. Okay, Edge, play the blues.
Update: Thanks to our clever readers for their great tips in the comment section! The big point is that there are better ways of getting your old monitor to a better place than simple sidewalk abandonment. Here's a start. Thanks everybody! Sorry for the interruption, Edge.
