UC Berkeley police said Sanchez showed the prize off to his friends and one of them tipped off the cops. Probably because there was a $2,500 reward for information about the stolen prize-- $2,500 buys a lot of ramen. Once confronted, Sanchez confessed to his crimes and was taken into custody. The prize was given back to the museum who displayed at it a press conference this afternoon.

As for Sanchez, he said he decided to steal it on "a whim" and basically just opened the case the prize was displayed in, after carefully deciding just what amount of sand he would have to put in a small bag that would be the same weight of the prize. Neither the giant ball that chased him nor the arrows that shot after him when he triggered the booby- trapped hurt him as he escaped with the Nobel Prize.
