At 7 pm, before the showing of State of Fear (a documentary about Peruvian terrorists), the Roxie is hosting a reception, along with live Peruvian music, with all proceeds going to fix up the sign. Tickets are $15, and you can buy them online.

We must confess that we actually really love the Roxie's old burned-out sign -- but we can certainly understand why the theater is interested in fixing it up. Also, if you'd like to chip in some bucks, but find a film about the Shining Path and Alberto Fujimori's human rights violations too upsetting to watch, you can donate online (click on "donate now") -- or just stop by the theater and drop off a check for the "Light Up The Roxie" fund (make the check out to the New College).
