With training camp opened and the whir of footballs in the air, SFist is going to take a look at some of the people who'll be hitting tackling sleds in ninety degree weather...

Let's meet the guys newly selected to bear the Silver And Black, shall we?

* Picked round 7, pick 47; 455 overall / Kevin McMahan / WR / Maine / 6'2" / 196

Story: Getting selected with the very last pick of the NFL Draft means that you are thereby "Mr. Irrelevant" and subject to a kindly week of celebration in Newport Beach. Seriously.

And how do they fit?: Not real well. OAK already has quite a stable of young receivers like Curry, Francis, Whitted and Gabriel backing up the starting one-two of Moss and Porter. (Though now Porter is whining about wanting a trade.)

But being buried on the depth chart doesn't mean that McMahan hasn't caught the coach's eye.

"The last guy?" Shell said to the Cornell Daily Sun. "He's 6-2, and he can run a 4.4 ... he's kind of exciting." And we know that guys with speed for their size will always have Al's favor.

Outlook: Practice squad? It'd be nice to see him catch a pass or two in the preseason. Best of luck, Kevin.
