Boxer says she got the idea after speaking with John Dean at a public discussion. Dean, of course, knows a whole lot about illegally eavesdropping on people and lying to cover it up. Dean said in the discussion that the President is "the first President to admit to an impeachable offense." Upon hearing that, a little light bulb went off in Boxer's head and she started working on the letter.
Now Boxer didn't say that she supports impeachment or that she wants to impeach the President, she just said she's looking into it. Interviewed on CNN, she was extremely cautious and made it seem like it was just an exercise just for the hell of it. It should take a few days for the wing nuts to start in with the wondering why Boxer hates America.
With John Lewis, Democratic Congressman from Georgia telling a radio that he thinks Bush should be impeached if he broke the law, that's two Democrats to broach the word. Also hopping on the bandwagon is Ranking House Judiciary Democrat Rep. John Conyers who introduced a resolution in Congress calling for an investigation to determine whether all of this is an impeachable offense.
