We don't know why this bothered us so much -- is it the implication the the person is so recently single that they have no good pictures without their ex that seemed off, or is it just that our hand somehow looks fat? The first time we met up with many of the folks who would become SFist, we brought this up, to general dismay and disgust. While it was good to hear that we weren't just reacting this way because of some residual adoration for the ex (shudder), the more we talked the more we realized that this was a pretty widespread problem. The severed ex is just one of the many mistakes being made by online personal ad holders, but we're happy to say that there's a solution in store.

Thank goodness for tonight's Shooting Singles party at the Arc Cafe. Starting at 7 p.m., Friends of SFist Mark his housemate Jen are throwing a free party complete with portable photo studio to be used expressly for (again, free!) digital photos appropriate for the online dating service of your choice.

Show up any time before 10 for professional-quality photos and the chance to meet other single people of all genders and orientations. If you play your cards right, you may be leaving with more than a .jpg, if you get our meaning.
