Recently Al's Comics has run into a bit of financial trouble, it involves landlords, tax collectors, zap gun wielding lizard men from another dimension, the city; in short, the usual suspects. He could use some help.

He may lose his space. He's trying to stay in the neigborhood, and the neighborhood would not be the same without him.

Well, folks, SFist agrees that Al's Comics, located on Guerrero Street near 17th, is a really great shop and is a great part of the essential character of the neighborhood. Mr. Monteiro's site encourages you to donate some money through a dropcash campaign.

While we wouldn't dissuade you, SFist has a better idea -- please go down to Al's and buy some merchandise if you want to see the store stick around. They've got comix that should appeal to just about any interest, not just fisticuffs between men in tights (though those are there too). Sci-fi to porn to children's lit to coming-of-age stuff to movie adaptations to classics . . . hey, the season of giving is upon us.
