Bummer to be driving down to the South Bay today -- a fire truck jackknifed on the San Mateo Bridge and completely blocked all eastbound traffic. The fire truck was on the way to an accident on the bridge between a van and a big-rig at around 6 a.m. when for some unknown reason it spun out of control. One firefighter was rushed to the hospital, and eastbound traffic on the bridge was stopped until about 8 a.m.
Further compounding drivers' woes, two lanes on 80 in San Francisco were closed because of flooding and, in our usual inability to drive when water falls from the sky, CHP is reporting three times the number of accident calls this morning.
