And then there's something called The Academy Awards on this Sunday.

Ahh. We kid. (Or pray at the Church of Ironic Detachment, take your pick.) Of COURSE TV is all about the Oscars this week. We won't talk about the nominees right now, but we would like to point out that there is much controversy surrounding the choice of host Chris Rock and the changes the producers plan to make to the event in an attempt to make it "hipper," such as presenting some awards to people while they're still seated. (Sorry all you sound effects editors. You'll just have to do something REALLY important, like act, if you want to make it to the big stage.) We think these changes ignore the simple fact that the Oscars have never been, nor will they ever be, hip. No amount of TV screens on the pavilion ceiling or gold leaf in the set decorations will change that.
