Well, we have some interesting developments regarding the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Seems the game has been leaked and is now all over the internet. That's right - rather than wait five more days for the official release, kids have already started downloading copies of the game for PlayStation 2 from popular file sharing sites.
If you're an outlaw and have a chip-modded PS2 and a DVD burner, you can go ahead and get the torrent at Suprnova, download the game, and start blasting away. The irony here is that a game about armed robbery has now been robbed. Take Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have issued a press release and are requesting tips in their hunt for the parties responsible.
This of course comes on the heels of Halo, Half-Life and Doom all being made available on the web before the official game release. SFist hopes that folks downloading the games are doing it to check the game out before purchase - especially since pre-release version, like pirated movies, are usually not 'gold' versions but earlier versions still being tested. We'd also like to point out that the computer game industry is a hefty part of the Bay Area economy, so remember that you're taking food out of all our mouths.
