Love Affair Between SF and Ralph Nader Over?

The votes are in and Will Harper reports that independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader received a dismal "4,000 votes in the city this year for his latest presidential experiment," while just eight years ago he managed to cull in 24,819 votes, at least according to Department of Election records. And if that doesn't just tear it, Nader running mate Matt Gonzalez "received 12,743 votes when he ran for supervisor in Nov. 2000 ... three times the number of votes when he ran in a little district (with a much smaller pool of voters) than he and Nader are going to capture citywide in 2008." Fox News anchor Shepard Smith interviewed crazy old man Ralph Nader the other night, chatting about, among other things, labeling President elect Barack Obama an "Uncle Tom."

Really.

A terse Smith tsk-tsk'd Nader, asking him if he wanted to take it back. (Not at all, replied Nader.) And, like, if you manage to offend a Fox News personality's delicate racial sensitivities, then, well, you screwed up. Oh, and Tim Goodman reads Nader to filth on his word choice, which we highly recommend you checking out. (We do like our Goodman ornery and livid.)

Makes you wonder what Matt Gonzalez has to say about this?

Anyway, be sure to look for more of these cheap shots over the next four years when the Obama administration manages to upset ne'er-do-wells and the politically-charged. Alas.

Quote of the Day: Palin Pales?

Sarah Palin -- who, let's face it, governs some useless mass of land in Canada -- thinks she's more qualified than God to help run the US. According to Ralph Nader, she's isn't, and even his running mate, Matt Gonzalez, has more skills than Palin. He says:

[VP candidate] Matt Gonzalez has more experience than Sarah Palin ...San Francisco is a lot bigger than Wasilla.

Nice one, Ralph.

That said, and we hate to have to point this out, Gonzalez never ran the city of San Francisco. Yeah. (Oh oh, dd Matt fudge his resume? Like, "Responsibilities: oversaw 30,000 city employees. Managed annual budget of over $5 billion. Charmed the panties off of 776,733 residents." Because: he did none of those things as city supe.)

Interesting. While Gonzalez has no chance of winning, at least not during this year's election, which is more important, ego-wise: Ralph Nader choosing Matt as his running mate, or Newsom still kicking it as mayor of SF? Can Gonzalez, who was defeated by Newsom many moons ago, now piss farther than Gavin?
