For their actions, which left Stow brain damaged and disabled, the judge called them, "the biggest nightmare for people who attend public events."

After entering their pleas, the two men had to face condemnation from Stow's family before the visibly angry judge could hand down their sentences. David Stow, Bryan's father, reportedly placed a Giants cap on the podium before telling the two men, "the years you spend in prison is what you cretins deserve."

Bonnie Stow, Bryan's sister, was even more emotional. From the Associated Press:

"We shower him, we dress him, we fix his meals," she said. "We make sure he gets his 13 medications throughout the day. He takes two different anti-seizure medications to prevent the seizures he endured for months after you brutally and cowardly attacked him."

Before sentencing, Judge George Lomeli told the two men they only seemed concerned with when they would be released. "One day you will be released," he said, "and Mr. Stow will forever be trapped in the condition you left him in."

Sanchez pled guilty to one count of mayhem that disabled and disfigured the victim, and was sentenced to eight years in prison with credit for the nearly three years he has served during the trial. Norwood, meanwhile, pled guilty to one count of assault likely to produce great bodily injury. He was sentenced to four years in prison, but will likely receive time-served credit for the majority of that time.

According to Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee, the two men received sentences close to the maximum they would have gotten if the pair had been convicted at trial. Responding to the emotional statements from the family, Hanisee said, "They did get off easy. Bryan Stow is serving a life sentence in a wheelchair and diapers. He is never going to get better."

The case isn't quite over for the pair, however — federal authorities have charged them both with illegal weapons possession charges that could add on another 10 years of prison time.

He will serve only 6 months of prison time, six month of home detention, and four years' probation.

If you recall, police say that Brinkin had pornographic images in emails attached to his AOL account, imagery that showed children "as young as 1 and 2 or 3 years old being sodomized and performing oral sex on adult men." During one disturbing conversation using the email Zack3737@aol.com, according to a 2012 SF Weekly article, Brinkin once commented, "I loved especially the nigger 2 year old getting nailed. Hope you'll continue so I can see what the little blond bitch is going to get. White Power! White Supremacy! White Dick Rules!"

Today's plea deal effectively dropped this charge of distributing child pornography.

According to SF Examiner: "Brinkin's defense attorney Randall Knox said today that his client is 'genuinely remorseful' and 'has a much greater understanding of the damage child pornography creates.' "

Noted for his advocacy work, at least prior to his arrest, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved a resolution proclaiming the week of Feb. 1, 2010, "Larry Brinkin Week," stating that his "dedication to advance the civil rights of all people has never stopped."

Jury Finds Barry Bonds GUILTY of Obstruction of Justice [UPDATES]

After four weeks of Barry Bonds' perjury trial, the Jury has reached a verdict on one of the four charges facing the record holding homerun slugger.
After four weeks of Barry Bonds' perjury trial, the Jury has reached a verdict on one of the four charges facing the record holding homerun slugger. According to KTVU news by way of the Appeal, after some confusion in the courtroom, Bonds has been declared guilty on the charge of obstruction of justice. On the other three counts of False Declaration to a Grand Jury, the jury was unable to reach a verdict and the judge is declaring a mistrial.

Update: The guilty verdict on the obstruction of justice charge indicates the Jury believed Bonds hindered the 2003 doping investigation by making false statements to the Grand Jury. According to AP reports, Bonds received his verdict "stone faced" as his legal team jumped to ask the judge to throw it out. No immediate ruling was made on the request, but there will be another hearing on May 20th for that case.

Update 2: The LA Times points out: "each count against Bonds carried a possible maximum sentence of 10 years, but federal sentencing guidelines recommend 15 to 21 months in prison for a conviction." So, Barry could be looking at more than a year in the slammer.

The prosecution has not said yet whether they will seek a new trial on the other three counts.

AP goes on to report that "The National Transportation Safety Board said last month that Cota's prescription medications impaired his performance, but it also blamed other factors for the crash including a poorly trained crew."
Well, at least he can officially turn off his cable and utilities in that San Francisco house now -- Ed Jew, complaining about being "picked on" and "set up," finally admitted what all of us knew all along and pled guilty to lying about living in Burlingame while representing the Sunset on the SF Board of Supervisors.

The terms of the deal that Ed worked out with the DA are that he'll probably serve a sentence concurrent to the more serious charges of graft that he also pled guilty to in federal court (probably around two to five years, but with a max of 30). Wow, at this rate, Ed can run for senate in Alaska now!

And, because the details in this case always just get better and better, the officials also revealed that when they raided the Burlingame house for evidence in the graft case (which triggered this whole thing), they found $10,000 wrapped in tin foil in his freezer. Stylin'!
