A man was shot to death in the Tenderloin Tuesday night, by a suspect police describe only as an unknown male.

According to the San Francsico Police Department, the fatal shooting was reported at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, on the 100 block of Taylor Street, which is between Turk and Eddy Streets.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office tells SFist that the deceased man has been identified as 42-year-old Oakland resident Robert Pleasant. Police say that Pleasant was shot by a man with a handgun, but citing the ongoing investigation declined to provide additional details. They did confirm that no arrests have been made in the case.

An SFPD spokesperson could not immediately confirm San Francisco's homicide count for 2017 following Pleasant's death. The shooting follows last Thursday's fatal stabbing of 42-year-old SF resident Jason Little in Hayes Valley. At the time of Little's slaying, SFPD spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca said his was SF's 39th homicide for 2017. As of publication time, Little's attacker remains at large.
