A man has reportedly climbed to the top of a building at Market and Gough Streets in San Francisco and refuses to come down. Police are warning people to avoid the area.

The incident began at 9:42 a.m. when police were called to the 1600 block of Market Street where a man was reportedly "jumping into traffic." As KRON 4 reports, the man fled from police into the building where he now stands, apparently threatening to jump as police are trying to negotiate with him for a peaceful outcome.

An alert went out at 11:44 a.m. for the public to avoid the area.

There is reportedly heavy traffic on both Market and Gough Streets as a result.

Update: KRON 4 brought some footage of the man, who was standing on top of a Bay window and still refusing to move as of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
