A video art piece, one of four by students at California College for the Arts (CCA), shows the cheeky message "The Video Can Not Play ... Not" scrolling across the top of Salesforce Tower, and some San Franciscans thought this was a an actual A/V snafu.
A Reddit user named pandaKrusher posted the video below to Reddit the other day, under the headline "Salesforce Tower is having problems." But as the Examiner learns, this was actually just a test of the upcoming student art pieces, which will be going live on the tower's six-story crown on May 18th.
The creator of inaugural video art pieces that have been displaying on the crown over the last year, Jim Campbell, is handing over prime projection space to four students for one day this month, in what is perhaps the first of more such video events to come.
Remember the "Eye of Sauron" from Halloween? Good times.
