A worker at a San Francisco lumber yard was killed Monday afternoon, crushed beneath the forklift he was driving.

According to a tweet by San Francisco Police Department Bayview Station Captain Raj Vaswani, the incident occurred at Goodview Lumber, a hardware store and lumber yard located at 1320 Marin Street.

The SFPD reports that they were called to the scene at 1:54 p.m. Monday, on reports of an "industrial accident." When they arrived, they discovered a 59-year-old deceased male. The man, police say, "was working on a job site when a forklift fell over and landed on [him]." Workers at the scene attempted to rescue him, police say, but were unsuccessful.

According to the Chron, "The forklift tipped over at the bottom of one of three ramps leading up to the company’s loading dock. A wooden pallet that had been loaded with bags of material was still stuck on the forklift."

KRON 4 confirms that report, saying that the man "was driving a forklift when it went off a ramp, according to a spokeswoman for the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health...The employee got pinned underneath the forklift and died of his injuries."

Bay City News reports that on Tuesday morning the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office identified the dead man as South San Francisco resident Ruan Qiang. According to the SFPD, SF police and Cal/OSHA will work together to investigate the incident.
