Sweet, sweet Jane. The cafe that opened on Fillmore Street in 2011 and has since expanded to Larkin in 2014 will open its third location, a retail store and bakery operation at 1881 Geary Boulevard (at Steiner Street). The previous tenant? A KFC/Taco Bell that shuttered, per Hoodline, this past January.
There was word of the expansion in June, but now things are in place and Jane will be open the last week of November. The bakery on Geary will feature the business's popular cookies, cakes, and pastries, and there will be bread (braided challah on Fridays!), plus salads and sandwiches.
Jane enters an area of lower Fillmore Street that's seen several new openings like Black Bark BBQ and Wise Sons Bagels joining a crop of new classics including State Bird Provisions and The Progress. As Jane owner Amanda Michael described the location to Hoodline this summer, "It's... one of the last strip malls in San Francisco, and I love that about it." I guess that means people can park and that any deliveries can be more easily accommodated. But personally, I could go one step further: How about a Jane bakery drive-thru?
