Even fans of the Royal Cuckoo Organ Lounge, an at once divey and swanky spot known for great music, may not realize there's a second Royal Cuckoo: The bar expanded from its Bernal flats/ southern Mission roots to add the Royal Cuckoo Market on 19th Street just off Mission Street in 2014. Now that small liquor and grocery store has a new hatchling, a wee bar inside called Horsie's Saloon, which was first spotted by local blogger Capp Street Crap and picked up today by Eater.

The market has so far been well-stocked with a cozy aesthetic similar to the original of the bar. But owner Paul Miller applied for a liquor license, unsure he'd be granted one in his unusual circumstance. He got it last month, so he's added room for eight bar guests to sit and enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails he's created that run from $6 to $10 and include concoctions like "Horsies Mary," a bloody Mary that includes two shots of the digestif Underburg.

Horsies saloon is open when the Market's open, so 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday to Thursday plus 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. There's a grand opening scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday November 2.
