After a body was discovered yesterday in a stairwell at the Westfield Centre mall in a death subsequently ruled a homicide, today officials tell the press that the victim was 28-year-old San Francisco resident Frank Galicia. The Chronicle writes that no suspect in the case has been identified. The circumstances of the death also are unclear.

Galicia was a line chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant Sons & Daughters on Nob Hill, NBC Bay Area has learned.

"We are shocked and devastated by Frank’s passing," an official restaurant statement says. "[We[ are a small team that operates like a close-knit family and he will be dearly missed... Our thoughts and condolences are with Frank’s family and friends at this difficult time." The restaurant is closed for the day. Colleagues of the cook told the station that Galicia was a Los Angeles native.

If you have information about Galicia's death, you are encouraged to contact the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 575-4444.
