A woman's body was discovered floating in an East Bay pond early this morning by several men. According to ABC 7, the men were at Newhall Park in Concord around 2:00 a.m. "to go fishing" when they discovered the body.
"We went over to the railing and saw blood like before the pond," Roman Pagan told the channel. "So we looked into the pond because we saw something floating, and it was like an orange shirt. It was a girl I guess."
The men called the police, who have yet to release the identity of the victim. The Chronicle notes that the major crimes unit is investigating the case.
"It was crazy, honestly," Pagan said. "I am shocked. I wanted to believe like it wasn't even true."

Some neighbors who spoke with ABC 7 seemed to be in a state of disbelief, with one telling the channel that "It's a nice park. I always walk here, it's a nice park." Another, Stephanie Espinoza, noted that "there's normally a lot of families that come around [Newhall Park] — people walking their dogs."
