"F**k these foolz that are making Valencia Street unchill and destroying the Mission 4 every1 who lives there," sings Kevin Patrick, AKA Field Medic, in a scathing social critique that targets "these people / in their vests and their shoes."
Indeed, vest people with shoes have little to no chill.
Here are the lyrics, as Patrick presents them in his video, rendered in a creative, naif spelling style.
I came here as a young manto escape the confines of my home
to a world without judgement
a strange & unsual'd roam
it as here i was raised up
it was here that i've grown
now all of these robots
have re-paved our streets with silicone [sic]
i can't afford a bus pass
i can't afford 2 eat well
if it wasn't for Food stamps
i'd be back 2 busking in the BART tunnels
if it wasn't for charlie out on 16th street givin em hell
there'd be no more poetry
no more stories to tell
& who are these people
in their vests & their shoes
who boast of not voting
cuz what good could it do?
when they're already Filthy
rich, & living comfortably too
in a new condo of 22nd
I tip my hat to those who smashed their windowz
i sing for my people who have yet 2 ca$h in
their chips on this wonderful
place that we live in
See it's not the city itself
that's violently ill
it's just these Fuckin Foolz
making Valencia Street unchill
& destroying the mission for everyone who lives there
As the Bay Bridged qualifies Patrick's effort, "when he instigates class warfare by tipping his hat to those who smash the windows of lavish new condos off 22nd Street, it's as shocking and necessary a statement as when Dylan hopes that the perpetrators of the Vietnam War die and rot in their graves."
That is quite the comparison, guys!
