The bomb squad descended on 17th Street near Noe this morning after a suspicious package was identified in the vicinity. As Hoodline tells us, the investigation, with bomb suits was ongoing as of 12:15 p.m.
17th Street was closed between Hartford and Sanchez Streets, and Noe is blocked off between 16th/Market and 18th Street as well, and residents are being told to stay indoors. People are also being told to avoid the area.
We'll update as the situation develops, or clears up.
Update: The SFPD sent a release relaying that there was both a suspicious object found on top of a newspaper rack on the southwest corner of Noe and 17th, as well as an unattended bag found on the 300 block of Noe. These were spotted by a Sheriff's deputy patrolling the area around 11:15 a.m.
Via an SFPD officer, SFist learned as of 1:30 p.m. that the object was deemed harmless.
