A woman was arrested after police tracked down two adults and a child who were involved in a strange and disturbing Bay Bridge scene this weekend.
As previously reported, California Highway Patrol officers were actively seeking a man, woman, and young girl in a mid-90s Chevy Blazer who drove through the Bay Bridge toll plaza Saturday night.
According to the toll taker whose booth the trio passed through as they headed west, the girl was kneeling in the center console of the front seat of the SUV, screaming and crying. The situation worried him enough that he summoned CHP, which had been on the lookout for them ever since.
After the CHP asked for the media's help to identify the group, the driver of the SUV contacted police to let them know that everything was A-OK. San Francisco Police Department investigators went to the man's home and verified that the girl was safe and sound.
A CHP spokesperson says that investigators learned that the girl was actually trying to break up a fight between the driver and his female passenger. Though police say that the adults committed no crime while in the toll plaza, the female member of the group was arrested by SFPD for a later incident involving domestic violence and child abuse.
At publication time, SFPD had not responded to SFist's request for further details regarding the circumstances of the "later incident."
According to police, the man was not arrested and the child remains in his care.
