The burglary of a Potrero Hill home was revealed to have taken pretty morbid turn Wednesday, as police announced that one of the stolen items was an urn that contained the robbery victim's cremated mother.

According to a press release sent by the San Francisco Police Department, some time between 10:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, a suspect or suspects unknown broke into a house on the 1700 block of 20th Street, a quiet residential enclave in Potrero Hill.

According to the SFPD, the robber "stole several items" from the woman who lived there, including a red, tear-drop shaped urn.

That urn, the SFPD says, contained the woman's "deceased mother's ashes."

"The victim is devastated over the loss," the SFPD says, sending along a photo of a similar urn so members of the public can be on the lookout. (Keep in mind that police say the stolen urn was red, and the one in the picture is yellow, an important distinction!)

Do you have any information about the burglary, or do you have a line on the urn? If so, please do give SFPD a call at 415-575-4444.
