Video: The Psychedelic Haight Light Sculpture Dubbed 'The Hippie Trap'

A guy in the Haight hung this piece of LED-based artwork outside his building in December, just before Christmas, and one of his neighbors jokingly told him they had nicknamed it The Hippie Trap. The name has stuck, and now that he's had to take the piece down due to neighbor complaints, we have a wrap-up video to commemorate it, via a hidden camera he had posted to capture onlookers' reactions.

As SF Weekly reports, via a wry statement the artist made on Facebook, "Turns out you can only please 99.9 percent of people. The 0.1 percent had their bedroom right next to it, so fair enough."

The artist, by the way, prefers to remain anonymous. "I really prefer it to be kinda the ‘guy behind the curtain’ like the Wizard Of Oz," he said.
