A new beer bar and restaurant is headed for the Mission/Bernal border next year, and it's called Old Devil Moon. The folks at La Terraza on Mission and Cortland are retiring from the bar industry and handing over keys to next-door neighbor and beer professional Chris Cohen. Cohen's plan is to build a home for Old Devil Moon, his beer events production company which currently organizes pairing dinners, tasting events, and beer classes.
The brick-and-mortar Old Devil Moon, like the trendsetters at Magnolia's Smokestack, will serve carefully curated craft beer, artisanal whiskey, and southern fare here, with an emphasis on burgers.
Cohen is also a certified cicerone, beer consultant, and a founder and former president of the San Francisco Homebrewer's Guild. He's joined by Andrew Kelley, another cicerone, and CPA Will Marshall. Here's a photo of the crew:
The design for Old Devil Moon's interior will come from Kelly Malone of Workshop SF, and the 1,600 square foot space also boasts a rear patio.
Cohen has applied for a transfer of the full liquor license for his concept, a less daunting task than an outright application, and expects (vaguely) to open in "mid-2015." We'll believe it when we drink it, and will update you accordingly
