Filmmaker turned illustrator-storyteller Andy Ojst talks about life in the Tenderloin in his latest YouTube video for the series Andy Tells Stories. In "Homeless in San Francisco," which you can watch above, Ojst tries to avoid the neighborhood's aggressive panhandlers whenever he walks outside the $2,500 studio he shares with his partner Jenny.
Now before you assume Ojst has a completely privileged take on the Tenderloin, keep watching the video to see how he responds to a group of homeless guys who mistake him for one of their own.
Originally from El Salvador, Ojst studied film in San Francisco and tired to make a go of being a director and creating video games before starting his YouTube channel to tell stories about his life. You can read more about him here.
