The best part about walking to work—save for those shapely calf muscles—is that you're at the top of the commuter chain. Others must bow down to your righteousness. You get throw side eye at cars (for they are destroying the Goddess Earth) and cyclists (for they are, at times, riding on sidewalks). Now this Friday you can even get free stuff to boot as San Francisco celebrates its second annual Walk to Work Day.

In addition to meeting some of your favorite district supervisors at "power hubs" throughout the city, Walk San Francisco encourages walkees to visit local businesses to power up with free Clipper cards, totes, Clif Bars, and coffee. "Walkers who share their experiences and photos online on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtag #Walk2Work can win contest and drawing prizes."
