A spokesperson from the San Francisco Film Commission has fulfilled one of local nerds'* wildest hopes, confirming to SFist that scenes from the latest Terminator film will be shot in San Francisco.

In an interview with The Arnold Fans, former California Governor/unstoppable cybernetic organism Arnold Schwarzenegger says that the latest installment in the scifi-action-time travel-I'm older than my dad franchise, apparently entitled Terminator: Genesis, will "start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco."

Though permits have yet to be filed with the SF Film Commission, Production and Marketing Manager Lauren Machado tells SFist that they have been approached by the production, and they'll be shooting in as-yet-undetermined locations in San Francisco "sometime this summer."

"Though we don't have things finalized, the talent has already confirmed," Machado said, referring to Schwarzenegger's remarks.

Terminator: Genesis plot details/speculation (of course there are spoilers galore) can be found here and here.

Schwarzenegger is the only actor reported to reprise a role from the franchise's previous films, with Jai Courtney reportedly playing Kyle Reese (the role played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 film) and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, who was originally played by Linda Hamilton.
