Friday evening around 8:10 p.m. a 45-year-old driver struck a woman at a bus stop near Mission and 30th Streets. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury and a hit-and-run. The 35-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, identified as James Bell of San Francisco, apparently hopped the curb on the South side of Mission Street, and ran into the Muni shelter on the sidewalk, shattering the glass in the process.

"She will probably have quite a long recovery," SFPD Sgt. Danielle Newman said of the victim. Bell was still in custody as of Saturday morning.
