Earlier this month in Vallejo, Calif., a young, first-time mom gave birth to a bright and energetic offspring who will probably never know a better life outside the confines of a pool in suburban sprawl.
Mirabella, whose name means "lovely and wondrous" in Italian, was born to 9-year-old dolphin Bella, who lives at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. According to Holly Muraco, a marine mammal reproductive specialist who works at the Looney Tunes-themed zoo, Mirabella is an "adorable, independent and tough dolphin." Although mother Bella is reportedly a great mom, Mirabella will be staying at the theme park to live out the next 45 to 50 years of her life in Vallejo.
