Last night in Oakland, two people were killed in two separate New Year's Eve shooting incidents, marking Oakland's last homicide of 2013 and its first of 2014.

The first victim, a 13-year-old boy, was leaving a recreation center in East Oakland around 9:30 p.m. when he was shot multiple times. He was taken to Highland hospital, where he died from his injuries just before 5 a.m. New Year's Day.

The second victim, a 21-year-old woman identified as Ashlee Walker of Oakland, had been out celebrating with friends. She was riding in a car with three others near the intersection of 22nd Avenue and East 20th Street in Oakland when a suspect outside the car opened fired on her vehicle around 9:15 p.m. Walker's friends drove her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to Oakland Police there are currently no suspects in either incident and no motive has been established. Walker's death was Oakland 92nd homicide for 2013. The boy's death, because it happened early New Year's Day, is Oakland's first homicide of 2014. A third New Year's shooting occurred in Oakland earlier in the evening around 9 p.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Way and 54th Street near Children's Hospital, but the victim in that incident is expected to survive.

A reward is being offered by Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
