Passengers trying to catch a flight out of Oakland Monday to Provo, Utah were treated to a completely ridiculous series of events that led them to be trapped on three separate planes through the course of a 12-hour ordeal, without leaving the tarmac. The culprit is Allegiant Air, whose planes, one might say, aren't that awesome.

The passengers originally boarded their Provo-bound flight at 9:30 a.m. yesterday, and after taxiing the plane was forced to return to the gate after issues were discovered with the landing gear.

Everyone then had to wait for another aircraft to arrive from Las Vegas, and boarded that second plane for a 3:30 p.m. departure. That plane also encountered mechanical problems, and had to return to the gate because the jets were overheating.

Fast-forward to 6:40 p.m. and a third aircraft dispatched from Phoenix. Passengers were stuck on the tarmac in that plane for over an hour after the captain returned to the gate for more fuel. They didn't leave until 8:48 p.m., nearly 12 hours after their scheduled departure, and many of them passed the time by tweeting shit about Allegiant and making videos about their ordeal.

AND! This isn't the first time something like this has happened with Allegiant. You may recall that in June this video went around of exhausted passengers singing R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" after they were stuck on the tarmac for hours going from Las Vegas to Phoenix in 108-degree heat with no air conditioning. In that situation there were also multiple delays, several mechanical problems, and passengers were ultimately only given $100 credit toward future flights.
