The SF Street Food Festival is rounding out your onslaught of August Festivals this weekend, and it is sure to be a crowded, good time. As always, it's taking place along Folsom Street between 22nd and 25th Street, and the fun happens on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And like last year, now that the fest has grown and grown over the past four years, there's a whole bar area in the Cesar Chavez Elementary School parking lot. Admission is free, but you'll need to pay for your food and drinks, obviously.
Vendors include a ton of local restaurants (Central Kitchen, A16, Tacolicious, Nopalito, Lers Ros, to name a few) alongside La Cocina incubator businesses and popular street food vendors from around the Bay Area, all serving tasty bites of all kinds for $8 or less. Download the full festival guide and map right here.
ALSO, like last year, there is a Night Market party thing happening the night before, Friday, at the Alemany Farmer's Market (100 Alemany Blvd), from 6 to 10 p.m., and you can buy tickets for that here.
Below, some of the highlights from a preview event a couple weeks ago, including a doughnut burger, and some extra-delicious mini-cupcakes.
First: a delicious mini mole tamal from El Buen Comer.
Here are those doughnut burgers, topped with umbrellas, from Hella Vegan Eats. The burgers are actually made out of beets, and stuff.
These mini huaraches from El Huarache Loco were the bomb.
Also delicious: mini versions of the Buffalo Blue Chicken Sandwiches that Zella's Soulful Kitchen will be slinging.
And finally, these mini-cupcakes, from La Luna Cupcakes, were fucking amazing, especially the tres leches ones in the foreground and we don't usually love cupcakes that much.
Act accordingly...
