We first told you about BottleRock Napa Valley back in February, and we're guessing some of you are going. It's basically a Coachella for the older set, with the demographic expected to skew toward people in their 30s to their 50s. And the lineup for the music and food fest is pretty great for a first-time festival, with the likes of Kings of Leon, The Flaming Lips, The Black Keys, The Black Crowes, Jane's Addiction, and The Shins all on the bill. (Further just canceled, FYI.) But Napa Valleyans (who we recently learned like to call themselves Napkins) are not all too pleased with the idea of 200,000 people descending on downtown Napa.
As CBS reports, some residents are concerned about the large festival occurring right in the heart of town, rather than somewhere more remote. Traffic could, certainly, be quite shitty, but festival organizers say that they're hoping to solve that by bussing people to the venue from different parking lots outside of town.
The Napa Valley Register, meanwhile, is excited by all the big names gracing their town, and they note that a lot of residents are already cashing in by renting out their homes and charging campers to use their backyards. (All the hotels in town have been booked up for a while.)
And, like Outside Lands, this fest will have a lot of great food and wine. "We can’t throw a music festival in the Napa Valley without providing great food, wine and brews," says organizer Bob Vogt. Here are the wineries participating, and this is the food lineup, which includes some high-end participants like Morimoto Napa and La Toque as well as a bevy other local names.
The fun goes from Thursday, May 9, to Sunday, May 12. As of today, there are still tickets available -- one-day passes as well as three- and four-day passes.
