After a suspicious bag was found at Lotta's Fountain this morning, the bomb squad was called to Market and Kearny and the annual celebration noting the anniversary of the Great Quake of 1906 was moved posthaste.

According to KRON 4 Morning News, "a person with dark-colored clothing" was seen leaving a bag near Lotta's Fountain just as the ceremony was about to begin at around 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning. This, of course, brought to mind the Boston Marathon bombings. Robotics and bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and the bag was searched. Luckily, nothing dangerous was found inside the bag.

The annual nod to the Great Quake of 1906 was then moved to Union Square and was scheduled to take place at 5:30 a.m..

Speaking of the annual ceremony, this year was the first time that no survivors were in attendance. Only three known survivors of the earthquake are still alive.
