The gastronomical stars behind Bon Appétit's "Best New Restaurant" of the Year, State Bird Provisions, has apparently had a new project brewing for a while. But Grub Street brings news that the project, which will occupy a space just two doors down from State Bird on Fillmore, might be rolling out as early as later this year, bringing tears of joy to anyone who's tried to get a reservation within SPB's tiny space (or who isn't in love with their tiny plates).

The new restaurant is the brainchild of husband-and-wife co-chefs Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski, who say they'remaking progress on the spot, which will be called "The Progress" in honor of The Progress Theater which once occupied the space. Grub Street reports that The Progress will be bigger than SBP, with a full bar and a 25-foot ceiling with mezzanine, and that the new restaurant will be both different and "symbiotic" with SBP.

We can only hope that means more of the kind of tasty eats that keeps the love flowing for local restauranteurs (translation: we're suckers for being #1 on any list, so let's stay on top, mmmkay SF?).
